WHAT ABOUT WATERSHEDS?
The area of land that drains to a common waterway is called a watershed. We all live in a watershed, so the choices we make each day can affect the quality of water in our streams, rivers, lakes, and even the oceans. Mill Creek MetroParks and AWARE (Alliance for Watershed Action and Riparian Easements) are working together to increase the quality of the area's water resources through the protection of the many local watersheds. There are six major watersheds in Mahoning County. The 4000 acres of Mill Creek MetroParks are part of four of these watersheds, including Mill Creek, Yellow Creek, Meander, and Yankee Creek.
